| I was born in Riverdale, GA in September of 1979, and I was raised in Morrow, GA until we moved to Stockbridge, GA in 1989, where I still live. I have I been around Southern Gospel my entire life. My family’s love for Southern Gospel started when my Great- Granddaddy Reid took my Grandmomma Stella to singings back when they were young. She then took my Dad, Walter Sheppard, to concerts while he was growing up. My Dad started his own group eight months before I was born. They have just celebrated thirty years of ministry, and the Jonesmen Quartet is still going strong. The men in that group have been a staple in my life, and have been a big part of my walk with Christ. In 1987, I was at a Cathedrals concert in Boaz, AL. They introduced their newest song, and it made me start to think about who Jesus is, and what all he did for me. The song was “Champion of Love,” written by Phil Cross, one of my heroes. In April of 1988, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. As a human and a sinner, I have not always walked down the right path, but thanks to Christ and His love, He will never forget about me, or turn his back on me. After a couple of years of walking down the wrong road, I rededicated my life to Him six years ago. He brought me back to the church that I had attended, Harvest Baptist Church, and He renewed my life long passion to sing in a Southern Gospel quartet. I may have turned my back on Him, but He has always been close enough to hear my cry. I started with Emmaus Road 3 years ago and it has been a dream come true. I have been on the same stage as my heroes and I can only credit God alone. I lean on God more than ever now, and I know He will never leave me nor forsake me.
